SEAGULL SWIMMING CLUB.

ANNUAL FUNCTION. The Ladies' Seagull Amateur Swimmine Club held their annual break-up at the iioso tea-rooms on Tuesday evening. • Mr. J. S. Stevonson, lion, secretary of the Wellington Centre, N.Z.A.S.A., read the annual report and prize list, and the president (Dr. Platts-Mills), assisted by Mrs. Norman Wright, presented successful members -with their trophies. ~,.,. This.eeason the president's trophy, a handsomo oak tray, was allotted to the best all-round swimmer. This competition attracted a great deal of interest, and resulted in .a. win for the captain, Miss Olive Arthur, who gained tho possible number of points, which made her ran all tho more popular. In presentine this trophy, Dr. Platts-Milla congratulated Miss Arthur on her success, and complimented her for the devotion which she had shown to the interests of the club. The speaker added .that members should bo proud or hiving such a captain. v During tho season two representatives, jlisses Bolton and GAbbs, went to Masterton to compete in the ladies. carnival,' and Miss 0. Arthur was the club's representative at tho New Zealand championships held at Blenheim in February. , . . . This fear's points trophy, a pair ot opera glasses, was presented by Mr. A. E. Batt, Miss 0. Arthur winning from Mass B. Gibbs J>y the narrow margin ot two points. These points were given for all races held during the seaaon.' During the evening musical items were contributed, and games and competitions took place. The latter were won by Misses F. Thompson, K. Arthur, M. Daubney, 0. Mangin, and C. Qeverklge. On the whole a very pleasant evening was spent, this being largely due to the efforts of the chaperones, Mrs. Norman Wright and Miss K. Arthur (hon. secretary), and to the committee, Misses O.
