(From Our Special Correspondent.) m, ■ ; ' Pahiatua, Juno 1. llic annual meating of tlio j'ahiatua a. and 1. Association'■ was held last baturday. The noivly-olected president Mi:. C. Averjy in the course of liis address, made reference to the improved state ot the association's finances, the increase in entries, last .year, and tho satisfactory condition-of-affairs- generally. Hβ further stated that ho favoured each district holding its own little show, ami not one large show for a number ol districts. He contended that small shows bc-ncfited the small farlupi'. Otlier members spolco with reference,to tho improved state of the association generally. At a recent meptina tlie idea ot lianding over the horticultural and industrial section of tlic association . to the townspeople was dismissed This proposal was. again brought forward. The meeting did not approve ol the suggestion, it bcin« considered that the running' of the two shows by the association assisted to keep up a community of interest between the town and the country.. It was decided to ,urgo the' Government to assist in tho purchase' of tlie proposed scenic reserve for Pahiatua. Mr. A. Karrell was appointed delegate to represent tho association on a deputation which is to wait on tho Pahiatua County Council and ask for monetary support for tho scenic resorvo fund. The secretary was voted a-bonus of £20.
