(£0 - 16 0 THE PRICE OP TIN. The quotation for tin his dropped tn £145 per ton, which shows a tremendous decline on recent values. At the beginning of tho year the price wae £167, and a year ago the quotation was £215, and the price his been as high as £223. The variations in the quotations this year are briefly, ai? under:—January 9, £167 per ton; January 23, £178 per ton; January 30, £181* pur ton; February 6, £166} per ton; February 20, £1803 per ton; February 27, £174 per ton; April 9, £1673 per ten; April 24, £159£ per ton; Hay 8, £15C£ per ton; May 22, £149 i per ton; May 30, £145 per ton" The highest price touched this year, according to the above Jtgurcs''was £186 55., so that the present quotation of £145 represents a fall of £41 5l«. per ton; while compared with last year there is a fall of £71 per ton. It ie difficult to see what hay occasioned this elump in values, unless it is that new sources of supply arc developing satisfactorily, or that more tin i 3 being obtained in Malaya. Users of tin must be delighted with the situation, and even in New Zealand tho decline wjll mean a big thing to the users of tin piatco.
