SWIMMING.

•The Thorndon Amateur Swimming Club held a smoko concert in tho Marine Institute rooms on Saturday night, Mr. T. Ronayne presiding over a largo gathering of' swimmers. Mr. D. K. Blair (chairman of the Wellington Centre) was also present. The usual toast list was gone through, and prizes won during., tho season were presented. Occasion was taken during the evening to make a presentation to Mr. J. Calnan (custodian of the Thorndon .baths), and in a few brief remarks Mr. Ronayne referred to the esteem in which Mr. and Mrs. Calnan are held by all Thorndon. bathers. Mr. Calnan also accepted a present on behalf of Mrs. Calnan. A varied and excellent musical programme was gone through. <
