FIRES.
MILITARY OFFICE PALMERSTON. (By Tolecrapli.—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston N., May 29. , A,fire broke out at the military headquarters on Thursday night. Tlio first discovery was mado by the _ nightwatchman, who saw smoke arising. It was found, after entrance, that the wall was alight alongside tho gas heater' in ono of tlio rooms, but its spread was ..hindered by .tlie piaster covering of the •wall, fA hole, however, was burnt ill the floor as well as in the wall. The flames were quickly extinguished. . The water applied by tho brigade slightly damaged tho cycle stocks of Messrs. Watts, occupying the premises below. •
