' Tho Prime''Minister 'continued his tour of Otago and Southland to-day, arriving at ilalclutha this afternoon from lnvcrcrfrgill.- On arrival", ho opened tho new Carnegie Library, which has'been erected as a result of a £1000 donation from the. Carnegio Library Trust. After receiving numerous deputations from tho local bodies and ■ settlers, Mr. Massey was entertained at dinner by the Mayor and councillors, and at 8 o'clock, ho addressed a densely-crowded meeting in the .theatre. Tho building was packed to tho doors, and it is estimated that over 1000 persons were present. Many settlers camo in a distanco of many miles from the surrounding districts. The Mayor of' Balchitha (Mr. Boyd) presided. 'The meeting was most enthusiastic, and its success was, if anything, oven more pronounced than that of the previous evening at InvercarRill. |Mr. Massey delivered another vigorous arid forceful address, and 'at its conclusion a voto of thanks and confidence in the Government was carriod practically . unanimously, amidst great cheering. The Prime Minister was afterwards entertained at a conversazione by the residonts. He proceeds to Duncdin to-morrow, where ho will deliver a public address in tho Garrison Hall in the evening. He visits Port Chalmers on Saturday, 'and unveils 1 the Scott. Memorial Cairn, which has boon erected on the hills overlooking the harbour. :
