UNION CO. PAY DAMAGES , INJURED STEWARD. The civil sittings of the Supreme Court wero resumed yesterday inorning, before his Honour Mr. Justice Hosking. The caso sot down was that of Bert- ■ ram A Booth v. the Union Steam Ship > Company, claim for £500 da.mp.gc3 for bodily injuries. The case was to have : been heard before a jury of four. Mr. A. H. Hindmarsh appeared for planttiff, who was a steward in the employment of tho Union Company. Mr. M. There would be no necessity, he snM, for-the Couri to concern itself further with the matter, as the company believed, after reeervrag the doctor's reports, tliat compensation should bo paid, and tto amount agreed upon would be paid accordingly. . Plaintiff's claim was brought <mi the ground of alleged negligent' of the "Union Company's servants. A steward was carrying a box-, belonging to a passenger, from one of the coinnanv's stoainens. and . plaintiff Was following with , some other- lugeage. He Mas struck on tho top of the head bv the froXs which was being carried down on the shoulders of the steward in frMit, .iwl tho injury was such that the- operation of trepanning had to be performed. Although the operation was successful, there was some diminution ®E ability. Plaintiff complained that tho_ accident was caused through the .neglige-rice, of those in control, in allowing passengers to go on and off tbo steamer si-juultane* ously. 1
