EMPIRE DAY
AT THE MISSIONS TO SEAMEN. Empire Day was fittingly observed on Sunday at tho Missions to Seamen. Both the church and tho institute wore decorated with bunting, tho Union Jack being prominently displayed. The morning and evening services were both opened by the singing of the National Anthem. In the afternoon the lady workers entertained tho seamen at tea. National hyms.wcrc heartily sung at tho evening service. Tho Mlssftmer (Mr. -"W. F. Cocks) based his remarks on the text, "Fear God, honour tho King." He referred to the magnitude and extent of the Empire, and pointed out that an empire could only rtfmain great- while it recognised tho over-ruling sovereignty of God. After speaking of somo of the dangers which threaten the Empire, ho urged on his hearers their individual- responsibility to God and their fellows. The Mayoress has generously consented to provide an Empire concert for seamen on AVednesday evening next.
