The trial of the accused persona in connection with the Army canteen contracts scandals. —in which'six ■quartermasters, two sergeants, a major, and eight civilians are charged that in February, 1903. and on other occasions they conspired that money should corruptly be given as an inducement to favour Lipton's contracts—has concluded at tho old Bailey. Owing to the Judge ruling that defendants were agents of tho Crown they all, following their counsel's advice, pleaded guilty. Sentence was deferred.
