Mellen, continuing his ovideneo before- tho Inter-State Commerco Commission which is inquiring into tho affairs of tho Now York-Ncw-haven railroad, asserted that tho bio Mr. J. P. Morgan knew .everything about tho Grand Trijnk Pacific Company's affairs, including Mr. Mellon , s indictment for violating tho Shormau Anti-Trust Act. ■
Mr. Motion said ho had agreed to take the indictment—which really ought to have been brought against Mr. Morgan —because, he- (Mellen) feared that thp indictment might kill Mr. Morgan, owing to his age and the state of his health. Despite this, Mr. J. P. Morgan, jnn., strove to remove him (Mellon) from the presidency of the company.
