"MARITANA."
It is a far cry from the oratorios of Handel and Mendelssohn to the comsimplo yet extremely melodious music of Vincent Wallace's onera, "Maritana," but the Royal Wellington Choral Society sets out to please all tastes, and its performance of the opera mentioned, to lie given at the Town Hall on Thursday evening next, is interesting all classes of locaf musiclovers. The opera has been thoroughly rehearsed under the baton of Mr. Christian Hellemann, and with the strong quartet of principals, engaged, should, provo a novel and interesting event. ,Tlio box plan opened yesterday morn'ing, and the plan is rapidly filling. As llio society has a long list of honorary members, those of the general public who intend to bo present should lose' no time in visiting the Dresden.
