It was decided to form an. association under tho titlo of "Tho Khaudaljah Itoad Acqpss Association." The main object of this association is to decido upop tho best method of improving the direct acqpss kom the Hutt Road to Khandah lah.
Officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr. E. C. Aldersou; secretary au'i treasurer, Mr. J. G. Smith; committee, Messrs. R. S. Kirschben*, H. E. Anderson, E. S. Kelly, G. Worsboldj and W.Hutchings.
Tho question of access to Khandnllah has been a burning topic for many years more particularly in view of tho inadequate; railway service. Tho mepting unanimously decided to make every effort to secure a largo membership. It was pointed out that a road, as suggc-stcd, would shorten the distance from Wellington to Khnndallah by somo two miles, a very important nnd lasting advantage to the suburb. If this improvement was carried out it was stated that it would bo quito possible to start a motor-bus service between Wellington and Khandallah.
ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES. e (Br Tolecraph.—Pross Association.) STRANGULATION WHILE INSANE. Auckland, May 22. At an inquest at the Mental Hospital regarding tho death of a patient named Elizabeth Schomberg, a verdict was returned of strangulation whilo insane, no blame being attachable to tho authorities. FELL INTO FLOODED RIVER. Cisborno, May 22. William Cochrane, a middle-aged, single man, was drowned at JJntawai. Ho fell from his horse over a steep bank into the flooded river. TRAIN AND CART COLLIDE. Auckland,, May 22. A collision occurred to-day between a train and a cart at tho Onslow Road railway crossing, Kingslaud. A baker's cart, driven by Carlton Hopworth, was crossing tho lino when a train struck tho horse, carrying it, with tho shafts of tho vehicle, across tho cattle stops. Tho hopso was killed and the cart \y-. greatly damaged. Hepworth jumped clear, sustaining only minor injuiji.t. This crossing is particularly dangerous and a similar accident, attended with fatal results, occurred thero a few months ago. TROTTING OWNER'S DEATH. Chrlstchurch, May 22. C. Kerr, a well-known local trotting owner, who was injured in a trap accident last Saturday night, diod'at the Hospital to-night. ACCIDENT AT STUDENTS' ■ CARNIVAL. An accident occurred during tho progress of the Victoria Collego students' carnival at tho Town Hall last evening, Mr. W. H. Stainton having his arm dislocated. Mr. Stainton was mounted on a ladder at tho rear of thu stago and was engaged in fixing one of tho scenes, when tho supporting wire collapsed, and ho was precipitated on to tho chairs in tho organ loft. Dr. Fvffe attended him, and it was at first thought that fracture of tho 'arm had been sustained, but, fortunately, the injuries were not so serious. Tho patient was removed to tho Hospital. '
