At the Health Conference, a paper by Sir Charles Mnckcllar, M.8., president of the State Children Board 'of New South AVales, on the subject of "Infancy and Health," analysed the Now South Wales conditions and the preventive measures taken to preserve child life, and also referred to the Federal maternity benefit, which would ultimately provo valuable in reducing mortality. Sir Charles Mackellar commended the South Australian system for the supervision of'* illegitimate' children. Dr. Frodshani ■ (late-Anglican Bishop of Northern Queensland), in introducing the paper, paid a tribtue to Sir Charles Mackollar's work,_ and added that much beneficial legislation had been tho outcome of his efforts. CONTINUATION SCHOOLS. (Rce. May. 21, 10.10 p.m.) London, May 21. Before tho delegates to the Health Conference, Lord Chelmsford (some time Governor of New South Wales) delivered an address on educational problems.. He advocated an extension of the scopo of continuation schools, to enable literary v> rk in tlm morning and manual training in the afternoon. Dr. Truby King (New Zealand) read a paper on "Infancy and Health."
