THE KING'S THEATRE. - For those who havo visited tho Old Country, that excellent reproduction of "London by Day and by Night," which is being screened at tho King's Theatre, would prove decidcdly interesting, and for those who havo not been Home the picture is an education. Tho great popularity of tho picture was demonstrates last' evening, when the sign "house full' had to be hung up at 7.50 and many intending patrons could not. get into tlio theatre. Many scenes are depictcd including all the principal buildings, as well as ■an interesting view of Petticoat Lane on a Sunday morning. Tho supporting items aro all meritorious. The wholo programme will be screened again this evening. A matinee will be given on Saturday afternoon. . THE DANDIES. Tho delightful concerts given each night by the Orange Dandies are attracting largo audiences. At times tlio Concert Chamber is too small to accommodate rill thoso desirous of patronising tho show. A change of programmo is announced for this evening, THE EMPRESS THEATRE. Tho new programmo to bo presented to-day and to-night at tho Empress Theatre continuous pictures will bo headed by the Vitagraph Company's "feature" drama, "Heartsease." A beautiful I*ranch girl, who is tending a flowerbed planted with heartsease, is accosted by an English tourist, who has lost his way. Tho chance acquaintanccship ripens into a lovo. match, and tho Englishman takes his brido to his mansion in England. Years pass, and tho cold nature of her husband causes tho wifo to pine, but her chief consolation is her second soil, who takes after his mother in disposition. _ Tho mother dies, and the second son is exceedingly distressed at her death. Somo time afterwards though this son is considered a weakling, lie exhibits remarkable heroism when his father's mansion catches .on fire. Tlio supplementary subjects include "His Indian Nemesis" (Kalem's Indian drama), "Tlio Shadowgraph Mcssago" (S. and A. drama), "An Itinerant Wedding" (A.K. comedy), and some comio items.

On Thursday evening next tho musicloving public will have tho opportunity of onco more hearing the melodious music of Vincent, Wallace's opera "Maritana," which has not been heard for many years. Tho line olcl opera is to bo presented in concert form by the lloyal Wellington Choral Society,• which will bo aided by a fine quartet of soloists, including Mr. and Sirs. Gregor Wood, of Melbourne, who are cast for the parts of Don Caesar and Lazarillo, respestively. Miss Helon Gard'ner, tho talented Dunedii soprano, will sing tho music allotted to' Maritana. and Mr. Hamilton Hodges will double the roles

of Don Joso and tho King of Spain. Tho box plan is to open this morning at the Dresden.
