. (By. Telegraph.—Press, Association.) Nelson, May 19. Tlio Hon. W. H. Hcrrics, Minister of Railways, addressed a public meoting hero to-niglit,, t'no Provincial Hall being well filled. The Minister had a good hearing throughout, and his speech was a general defence of the Government's administration. Replying to tlio criticism of tlio Liberal "flying 1 sqtiadxon," Mr. Herries declared that (hiring the coming session the Government would complete the redemption of its pledges with tho exception of compulsory insnranco against unemployment, in connection with which tlioy were watching the working of Mr. Lloyd George's scheme at Homo. The motion of thanks and confidence in tho Government was declared carried on tho voices, amidst some uproar.
