GRADUATES OF THE YEAR
PRESENTATION AT THE TOWN HALL I'lio time-honoured capping ceremony in connection with tho graduates for the year has, through circumstances which need not bo recalled here, been relegated to the limbo of things that have been. Though it is not a capping ceremony proper, the function of tomorrow evening promises to bo an admirable substitute for that fmiction. Its order has .been arranged jointly by the Council -of the Victoria College, the Professorial Board, and the Students' Association. It has practically been arrange*! that instead of tlio graduates for the year being presented to th© Chancellor of the. University of New ikuland, they will bo presented by tire chairman of the Professorial Board (Professor y. K. Pickett) to tiio chairman of tho Council (Mr. H. H. Ostler). Tho function will gain' jii importance on account, of tho presonca of General Sir lan Hamilton, Inspector-Gonera! of Overseas .Forces, who will address tho gathcrisig, Tho Prime Minister (Son. W. F. Massey) is also to deliver a speech. Individual invitations hftvo beoii rigidly confined (I) to a strictly official list- (2) to friends nominated by the graduates tlictn&elves (two by cadi), Tho function is to last from 8 p.Hi. to 0.30 fi.in., after which the halt will ho occupied by the Students' Association for the purpose of its annual dance, The Students'" Annual 'Carnival takes place on Friday evening.
