The speaker emphasised the necessity of correct speech in private and public life and showed how it is possible when one gains a toiojvledge of how to construct snocclj. There were throe main wavs Of makins a speech—memorised, externpot*. and impromptu. Til the speaker's opinion the best- method was extempore. Mi'. liiiiton's address was warmly »p. predated by those present, and 'after an interesting discussion a hearty vote of thanks Was moved. A "Parliamentary evening" will he the subject for the next meeting of tho society.
