SHTJGRDE DEFEATS M'COY. By TelecraDli—Press Association—Copyricht (Rec. May 17, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, May 17. Tho two light-weight boxers, Joe Shugrue (U.S.A.), and Herb. M'Coy (Australia), met at tho Stadium last nifjlit. Tho police stopped tlio contest in tho fifteenth rotmd, and tho vordict was in favour of Shugrue.
At Friday evening's meeting of tlio Boxing Association it was decided to commence the contests in the amateur championships to-night and to-morrow night at 7.30, instead of at 8. Patrons aro asked to note this particularly. This has becomo necessary, becauso of the large number of bouts each evening, tho entries constituting a record for any amateur tournament yet promoted. The doors will be opened at 7 o'clock.
