WORKING MEN'S CLUB. The annual meeting of the members of the Chess aiwl Draughts Section of tho Wellington Working Men's Club was held last week, Mr. J. Milcsi presiding. Tho annual report was road and adopted. The ejection of officers resulted as follow; —President, Mr. E. Mace; vicepresidents, Messrs. I\ Woods, J. Milesi, J. O. W. Dalrymple; clies.s referee, Mr! A. G. Fell; draughts referee, Mr. J. i Leggatt; treasurer, Mr, J. Wilson ; sec« I rotary, Mr. F. K. Kelly; assistant sec-' rotary, Mr. J. P. Key; chess consulting experts, Messrs. Barnes And Burgess ; draughts consulting experts, Messrs. Erickson and lipid; match committee for chess, Messrs. Barnes, Eaton, and Heid; same for draughts, Messrs! Erickson, Reitl, arid J. Wilson;, delegates to the New Zealand Chess Association, Messrs. Datrymple and MiSesi. !Mr. Dnlrymple and appointed a vice- ; president- of tho New i&eaiand Chess Association. It was decided that entries" for the ; forthcoming chess tournament close at the end of the month., The question of a championship shield for the chess competition was referred to the committee. 'file ton-a-side telegraphic chess tournament between Christchurcli and Wellinstton is to commence at tho local elubrooms on Saturday nest. The Wellington players will be: Messrs. W. E. Mason, 'Barnes, Still, Maekar, Kelly, Foully, Barrawi, Fell, Giles, and Hill" OUTSIDE CLUBS. The Wellington South Club bas accepted the challenge from tlie Ngaio Club for a tournament to bo held in June nest. The change of designation from tho ■Ngaio "Circle" to the Ngaio Chess Ctnb was matfc at the rsecnb animal meeting, in consequence of an increase of membership.
