Queensland stands out for the present, owing to sm..agreement with tlic Queensland National' Rank; and Tasmania also stands -out, because competition between tho Oo.mm-omvea.H-h and tho State banks did not exist. Tho conference discussed the question of tho Commonwealth taking over the State debts, hut failed to' reach an agreement.
