In connection with the amending Home Rule Bill deadlock, tho King granted an audience lasting nearly an hour to Mr. Lloyd Georgo (Chancellor of tho Exchequer), who is tho principal mouthpiece between Cabinet and the Nationalists. The "Daily Chronicle" . states that numbers of Down and Antrim farmers were not averse to their sons joining Sir Edward Carson's volunteers with the object of drilling, but were startled on learning that rifles and ammunition wcro about to bo individually distributed.
