':;■; Tho strike fund balance-sheet of' tho - United Federation of Labour for "1913- ' 14, to March G, 1914," is published in the "Maoriland 'Worker," issued yes-' , torday.'' • '. ■'■"• ; • '•:' Tho statement, shows that the-total receipts amounted to £0384 14s. lid., of which New Zealand unions contributed approximately £2600 and Australian unions approximately £3800. . ■ Close upon half the New Zealand ; amount was contributed , by tho New JCealaud Shc-arers' ■ Association, ' who ,mive £663, and the Manawatu flaxmillcrs, who-furnished £629. Tho next ' largest amounts sent in were' as follow: —MaUngaturotb workers, £202; Inangahua miners, £200; AVest Coast w-orkers, £138; AVbaiigambmona workers, ' £118. Of the Australian amounts the AmalCamatod Miners' Association, Broken Hill, gave £1000, and the Australian Workers' Union and Illawarra Miners' : Federation- £500 each. Tho total payments, as. set out in the halance-shcet, -amounted to £6131 11s., : leaving a balance at the bank of £253 Bs. lid;' Tho principal payments are - : fcivcn as follow: —By relief —Wellington, ' E1450: Huutly. miners, £1215; Auck--5 land. £1020; Dunedin, £725; New Plymouth, £105 j £130: Nelson. £100; and families imprisoned strikers, £25; by meals,",etc., supplied prisoners and strikers, £54 18s. 10d.: travelling expenses (New Zealand and ' 'Australian), £132; executivo meetings, .-€1991 and legal expenses, £481. Tho balance-shoot is certified'to by ' Mr. H: BoltoivF.l.A., N.Z., in.', the following terms:—"l have examjiied tho books of account and vouchers" in connection -with the strike fund of theUnited,. In an attached memorandum,' Mr..P. Hickey, secretary-treasurer of the Federation, states:—''ln connection with thp balance-sheet of tho Strike Fund, I desire, in justice to the- Labour organisations of the Dominion, to" point out that; in "addition to the sums paid to the Federation Fund, many contributed also to the local strike' centres;' As a caso in point, tho Inangahua minnrs arc credited with £200 in the bal-ance-sheet. _- This represents the total i " amounti paid direct to 'headquarters';' hut that union paid an additional £600 direct to local strike centres of Grey • and Bulier.
