WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY.

A COLLEGE FOB GIRLS. Tho Wellington Presbytery mot at St. John's Church last night, the Rev. J.'K. Elliott, D.A., presiding. Dr. Gibbj in presenting the. report of tho Orphartago and Social Service Association, spoke of the wonderful way in j which the work had developed. In receiving the report, _thc'_ Presbytery expressed warm appreciation of tho work which had been done during tho year, and of the services of Mr. and Mrs. Mills and their assistants, and approved of the proposals to appoint an assist-, ant to Mv. Mills, and to erect a cottage for the housing of' the boys who havo passed the age at which it is judicious to keep themin the orphanage buildings proper. Congregations are appealed to for the annual collection in June, or as soon thereafter as possible: Dr. Gibb made a strong appeal for increased support for tho home mission fund, and on his motion it was decided in view of the urgent need of a greatly increased income for tho fund, to enjoin tho ministers and elders of the Presbytery to do their verv utmost to promote tho interests'of the fund, specially to substitute same form of collecting ' agency for the altogether unsatisfactory ' ) annual collection; and further that a j conference on home missions be held t under the auspices of tho Presbytery at j an earlv date. ; - Dr. Gibb introduced the question of J the establishment of a Presbyterian Col- , Ice for Girls in/Wellington. He was satisfied that if such a scheme were started it would receive a large measure of support, and develop in the same way i. as in other centres: and also that it would bo possible to secure the servicrs of a prominent educationalist as principal. Ho moved that In committee lip set up to consider the proposal and report at a future meeting. ■ General approval of the suggestion was expressed, h and the motiou was unanimously a adopted. The Rev. A. C. W. Stnndaee was appointed Moderator of tho Wadcstotrn home mission station.
