SEVEN-A-SIDE TOLfRNAMBNT LADIES' GAMES OPEN. Quito an interesting and busy time was put in by hockey players at Karori Park on Saturday! Main interest was centred in the seven-a-aide contest, and, out of the twcßty-one games played in it. thero wero quito a large iwinlKT of fast and exciting battles. Dafkness, hoivover, sot in before the competition could be brouylit to a closn, and one of tho semi-finals—University A v, Me- I tropolitan A—and tho final between thewinner in this gam© and Karori A still remain to be played. As the Jossr in finch match dropped out. it. naturally followed that both tho quality of the play and the interest of tho onlookers increased as the games advanced. Karori A came through .three rounds .with j flyinu; colours, and, in the semi-fiiml j with Metropolitan B. wosi bv 3 goals to nil. It is thought probable that, tho final, will bo contested between the Karnri A and Metropolitan A, ys>i ii is quite pas.siblo that University A may match vieto ry from tho latter. Altlsou!?h the cames wero decided on the scaled handicap system, it is not thought .that any tnam won on this advantage.
