REBUTTAL OF PRESS MESSAGE. (By Tolegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Dunsdin, May 8. Amusement was created hero hy a report telegraphed to Wellington about tho Bible-in-schools discussion in tho Dunedin Presbytery on Tuesday. Tho 'Anti-Bible-iti-Schools Party in tho Pres,bytcry number two or three, and' on this question aro in antagonism.to the kirk sessions generally throughout the Clutrcb, and to tho superior courts— tho Otago Synod'and tho General Assembly. They aro also in antagonism on this question to tho Presbyterian Church of tho Commonwealth, which stands for tho platform of tho Biblo in State Schools League. Mr. Chisholm's motion and speech wore listened to with impatience, and, as his motion was really ultra vires (being a censure on the judgment como to by tho. • superior courts of tho Church), a keen Biblo-in-Schools supporter moved, in order to, stop a needless discussion, that they pass on to tho next business. Tho members of tho Presbytery stand practically solid for the Bible in schools, and, at no church meeting within tho bounds of tho Presbytery, has any dissentient motion been passed. OPPONENTS' SPEECHES. Pahiatua, May 8. At a meoting of householders hero a . discussion took place on Bible-in-schools. 1 The headmaster of tho District High School, and also an assistant master, strongly opposed the Bible in Bchools, fearing that it would lead to denominational coaching. They commended the present secular system.
