CHURCH ANNIVERSARY
_— 9 —; ISLAND BAY METHODIST CHURCH. The sixth' anniversary of tho Island Bay Church, in the Wellington South Methodist 'Circuit, was celebrated pn Wednesday evening. Tho meeting was most successful, the audience tilling tho schoolroom. Tho' proceedings wero characterised by brevity throughout. Tho secretary hnd treasurer, Mr. Copithorne, presented both report and bal-ance-sheet in under seven minutes, and showed that the finances wero healthy. This was followed by one-minute addresses by Messrs. R. Horron 011 stewardry; Wm. Prince, trust; Thompson, Sunday School; Page, Wesley Guild; R. E. lierron, missionary; Sloman, choir; Keys, Band of Hope; Mrs. W. H. ' Potts, Ladies' Guild; and Miss Harper, J.C.E. Society. The subjects, "A Working Church," "A Willing Church" and "A Winning Church" wero dealt with in seven-minuto addresses, respectively, i by tho Hon. C. M. Luke, Mr. F. 11. • Clarke, and tho Rev. J. Southern. 1 Jliss Jessio Shorland recited "The ' Day is Done," and the musical portion was supplied by Mrs. Harris, "Tho Carnival" and "Whisper and I Shall Hear," Miss Wright "Tho Awakening," whilst- • Mr. Sloman rendered "If with all Your I Hearts." The Ladies' Guild contributed £43 to • the trust fund for this year, and £7 > 10s. to the circuit fund, whilst since its 1 inception it has handed over to trust ; and circuit £187. The treasurer repoited a steady diminution of debt, and the • whole tone of the meeting was bright and optimistic.
