AN UNCROWNED KING
The announcement that the Corona* ti-on of the Shah of- Persia- has been fixed for July 21 next is ft re-minder that at least one E.iropeait monarch has been content to reign for twenty-six years without any formal crowning. This uncrowned liiftg. is the present German Emperor, who succfecded te'tlio Prussian Throne in 1888, and his never yet been crowned. The same is also true of his father, Frederick IV, tho pathetic circumstances of whose brief reign of three- months made, a. Coronation -'ceremoity impossible. The histOeniiaflEmpej'or. William I. was'crowned as King of. Prussia is 1861, hut of his.six predecessors the only one who was crowned was the first Frederick in 1701.
