SIR IAN HAMILTON

REACHES WELLINGTON & GOES ON

General Sir lan Hamilton, InspectorGeneral of Overseas Forces, reached Wellington from Nelson by H.M.S. Psycho yesterday morning, and left subsequently for Palmorston North on his way to tho military encampment at Takapau.- On arrival at Thorndon Station the General was received by a ■guard of honour numbering 150 memljers of the Now Zealand Railway Corps, under the command of Captain J. Macdonald. As the General appeared four buglers sounded the "General Salute." Sir lan Hamilton then inspected the men, and them on their creditable appearance.« "The following accompanied General Hamilton:—Hon. James Allen (Minister of Defence), the Hon. H. D. Bell (Minister of Internal Affairs), MajorGeneral SiSsy (eommanuing New Zea--land ' Forces), Colonel 'V. S. Smyth (Officer Commanding Canterbury Military District), and Colonel R. J. Collins, C.M.G. The Hon. J. Allen, who accompanied the General from Nelson, will proceed with him as far as Frankton Junction, .ahd"*return to Wellington on Friday. Tho Town Cleric (Mr. J. R. Palmer) represented the Mayor at the unofficial reception accorded to General Sir lan Hamilton yesterday morning.
