WALKS INTO A BONFIRE
A report from Cincinnati, Ohio, describes a remarkable test given to a fireproof s\iit and helmet. To provo that, his invention is all -lie- claims it to be, Sir. Martin Pain'ik-n donned tho contrivance and allowed himself to bo cast into a great bonfire. Far fivo minutes, the report states, Mr. I'a-iiniati was obscured to the witnesses by walls of fire, and finally ho stopped out through a blazing curtain of finines tutmjnr-ei), coo], and calm. Tho helmet is of metal, with two layers of water awl fireproof canvas inside. Water also rushes between similar layers of-canvas that form tl» inside of tlio suit i'roiii shoulders to feet. To obrinto the chances rf tlio water becoming heated, vents at tlio hniuU allow it to escape. The exterior of the suit is of fireproofed canvas.
