HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Hie acrobatic turn of the three Americans, Hanlon, Dean, and Haiiloit. is attracting attention at His Alaiostv'e Theatre this week. The trio give 'a" turn of all-round excellence, ami it is rrallv worth seeing. The animal art of Gardner, s maniac bulldogs displays four quadrupeds of-wonderful intelligence and sagacity. Other tsmis worthy of mention are Al'Dorinld and G'onereaux (Scoteh comedians), Dorothy Harris, and the .Knglish entertainer, Joilv Marie.
THE KING'S THEATRE. . Many playgoers no doubt have pleasant _ memories of Katherino Uroy and Cyril Mackay in Charles Klein's, great American play, "The Tliircl Decree'" yet the filmic portrayal of the draiim at the King's Theatre, with tho superb cast i.y the Lubin Conipnny, is none tho less fine. Moreover, the adaptation to the screen gives opportunity for introducing many scenes that tire stage cannot give. "Tho Third Degree" is supported by ait excellent, ""selection of soeuic, dramatic, and comic items.
THE EMPRESS TREATISE, • "Tho Moonshiners' Last. Stand," a stirring portrayal, of life in tho I/ills of Arkansas, by tho A.K. Company, was presented at the head of the new , programme at tho Empress Theatre continuous pictures yesterday afternoon and evening. The film tolls of a, girl, Octavia Handwortli, ivlio sells tho" whisky ■that her father and brother make with an illicit still in the hills. The girl breaks tho law by going into tho restricted area known as "The Reservation," which has been set apart for tho Indians, and disposes of the whisky to the llodskins.. The sheriff of the district communicates with the- Customs headquarters in • Washington, with the result that John Dorr, a detective, is dispatched to Hillsvillc to investigate. There ho meets Ostavia, and falls in love with her. Affection lulls tho detective's suspicions, and Octavia is able to carry on her trade with tho Indians. One day the detective accidentally discovers tho illegal trade which is being carried on, nnd te immediately covers Octaria's. father with his but at that moment the Indians, frenzied with drink, sot out on tho warpath, ami attack the. moonshiners' homestead. The whites can now see that their only hope is. to band together and fight till the troops arrive. A company of cavalry gallops to tin; scene of action. The Indians have fired , tho hut, and the arrival of the troops just saves (heir lives. Tbb fire destroys all evidence' of the moonshiners' oceupatioii, so the detective refuses to arrest them. Octavia then consents to be his bride. The Soiiialis of Sout'fi Africa aro witnessed attacking a number of lions in the wilds in the film, "The Lion Hunt." The picture was taken by Cherry Keartois, who accompanied Mr.'ftoosorolt on his. famous exiraidjtion. There are several other entertaining subjects on flio pro* gramme.
