When the Russian steamer Komcta, with a cargo of petrol on board, was blown up olf Sidi Fernisli (on tho Algerian coast), fifteen lives being lost, tho boat in which tho captain's wife had been placed was capsized, and tho lady thrown into tho water. She swam for two hours to keep clear of the burning oil which was flouting on the water in tho vicinity of the disaster.
