The president (Mr, E. He proposed to move a motion to o|>cn the, matter for discussion, a-s lie had resigned his position as president. His motion wus: "That- the meeting, having hc-afu the president's explanation in reference to the negotiations for an English team, expresses its confidence in the retiring committee." As president, he did not want to retire from office with the stigma- that, in tlio words of some of the North Island associations, Jto had been a party to bungling the negotiations for tho British tour. Mr. Norden then gave particulars regarding t,he negotiations. In reply Iβ a. question as io the- final letter from tlio English Association, Mi , , Nordon said that one had not been lecoived. He further oxplainccl that Mr. Elliott- Davis liafl negotiated with tho English Association when in Loudon, but when he returned tlio New Zealand Association had coimnunicittorf direct. They had kept the Auckland Association posted in tho matter. Mr. MacDonwall (Howke's Bay) said that the cable address supplied was the cause of tho vrholo trouble. They had been using Mr, Davis's father's address, and did iwt- know till that- morning ■when Mr. Kiliott Davis had explained tho position. Tho chairman ?aid that tho negotiations iiad not been dropped, as suc-aest-ftd, but had been left in abeyance. Stewart seconded the motion. Mr. MacDougall tnovoi): "That, in tlio oninion of "this meetins, it is desirable htat the headquarters be moved to Wellington." The motion was lost by 16 votes tu 3.
