For this reason ho moved: "That the Town Clerk bo instructed to write to tho Electrical Engineer to obtani full particulars of tho agreement between tlio council inid tho City Lighting Depaitmcjit-m regard to. electric light." Tho motion was tarried. { "Through fares" between u p.m. and i 6 p.m. was a matter mentioned byCouncillor Hamilton, He understood that the system had worked satisfactorily on tiie Miramar and Sentoim tram- care and thought that on the Karon line there should be a minimum fare I charged to the tunnel. The position at I present was that, during tho hours mentioned, the ears were crowded by people who went no further than tl'io Botanical (iardens. Tho 'Mayor thought that {he introduction of through fares would be an advantage and that the council should coiisider the question. Councillor Bum, oh behalf of councillors, expressed appreciation of the manlier in wliioli the retiring Mayor Imd controlled the business of the" council during th* past term. Ho expressed the hope that, altlwu«li the Mayor would in future not bo directly connected with local politics, lie would still ta!«i the f-ame interest in tho borough as ( lie had done in tlio past. The various other counoiliots all wtpressed re.e;rrt that the Mayor nas poms out of office, and tho Mayor briefly returned thanks for the kindly sentiments expressed.
