SHEARERS' CONFERENCE

The annual conference of delegates of shearers' unions will meet in tlie Town Hall on Tuesday, May 12, and will probably remain in session for four or fivo days. Tho delegates who will attend are: Messrs. W. Boono (Christchnrcli), W. E. 801 l (Christchnrcli), Charles Grayndlor (Woodvillo), John Townscnd (Blenheim), C. R. Johnston (Ashburton),,W. T. Adair (Duncdin), and W. M'Lennan. All the above wore nominated as delegates in the regular way, but as none of them aro shed hands, and as a shed hands' agreement is to be considered, tho executive have appointed Messrs. J. Keogh (Kurow) and James Morgan (Gisbornc) as shed hands' representatives to the conference. After the conference it is possible that tho delegates will meet representatives of the Sheep Owners' Federation.

MAKURI FARMERS' UNION A meeting of the Makuri branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held on Saturday. The following officers were appointed:—Chairman, Mr. W. E. C. Tyleo; vice-president, Mr. H. Coom; auditor, Mr. Thos. Wilson; secretary, and delegate, Mr. W. I. Mooro; committee, Messrs. R'. A. Wilson, C. Jennings, C. Parsons, Thos Whitta, J. W. Perry, F. Rhodes, J. Diamond, C. Gardner, E. T. Pbulton. Two remits on railway matters were passed for consideration at tho Provincial Conference.
