The Socialist Society has circularised the trade unions in Cape Colony proposing "retaliatory action" should the Union Government pass its contemplated reactionary legislation. The "retaliatory scheme" includes organised withdrawals from the defence forces, a boycott of Soutli African goods, withdrawals from the Savings Bankj and a general strike. The "Capo Argus" belittles the movement, hut warns Parliament to avoid legislation antagonistic to the trade unions, because such measures would bo "playing into the land's of the revolutionary elements." •
