'A shell crashed through tho window of a flat in tho early morning, filled tho room with smoke and dust, and broke a mantelpiece. It was discovered that it had boon fired from a gun which was being secretly tested from a military aeroplane. The .invontoriclaims that in piercing an iron .shutter and wrecking the room at a thousand yards tho shell gave a splendid demonstration of the efficiency of the gun, tyliich is 6Jft. long and projects from a sort of trough in a. strongly-built biplane. •
