LARGE V. SMALL POTATO SEED
An experiment wfis conducted at the Grafton State Farm to tost tho production from, seed of various sizes, and both cut and whole. Tho report states:—"An analysis of tho results reveals; in a striking manner, the superiority of the large tubers, whether cut or-uncut, over the smaller tubers for seed purposes. Although 'largo whole', and 'large cut,' once longitudinally each. bViow a slightly increased yield over large tubers 2 inches to 3 inches in diameter, cut four times, the latter is undoubtedly, the most economical set to employ in planting. The much greater quantity of seed required per aero in, the former,-does not compensate for the small increase of yield, in view of the high price of seed." For instance, large whole seed wa's planted .at tho rate of 28owt. per acre, anddargo potatoes cut four times at the rate of 7cwt. per acre.
