TRACK WORK AT TRENTHAM. On Saturday morning a ■ good many horses were working on tho Trentham tracks in view of tho Wellington Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, which opens on Thursday next. Among tho gallops recorded wero tho following:—Merry Roo, four furlongs in 48 3-ssec.; Blcriofc, four furlongs in 60 l-ssec.; Altoar, four furlongs mSO 2-sscc.; Rcrehau and Want, four furlongs in 50 3-osec.; Mount Victoria, four furlongs in 515c0.; Rone, lour furlongs in 61sec, beating Silveretreain; Blissful, four furlongs in 51sec, boatmg Grandeo; and Ladoga;- six furlongs in lmin. 18sec, beating Arlington. Other horses to work on Saturday included: Immor, Sir Saracen, Chaklyana, Crown Pearl, Royal Arms, Confirm, Expect, Bronze, Bertrada, Pariform, La Favourita, Downham, Ringform, Silver Monarch, and St. Curio.
The grey horse, Horokiko, in J. Scott's stable, was sent twice round over tho schooling fences, and jumped well. Ho was yory lame on pulling up, and' Ik was discovered that he had overreached and cut himself severely. It is doubtful whether ho will be able to fulfil his engagements during the weok. Tho names <tf iivo horses appearing in. Saturday's issue as having accepted for' the North Island Challenge Stakes at the Wellington Autumn Meeting sliould havo been deleted from tha official list supplied. They are: Martian Princess, lavistock, Garance; br. f. by Siguor— Helen Portland, and Hyniettius. Yesterday training operations were commenced at Trentham under ideal conditions. Tho weatfaer was fine, the atmosphere clear, the temperature had risen, and the trucks were in capital order. Tho Porirua horses woro stripped shortly after six a.m., and were allotted six-furlong tasks on the trial gallop inside the rails. Beksco and George, both carrying light-weights, finished together, having covered the distance in lmin. 18sec. ;
Pavlova (light-weight) had the call over Gipsy Bello (Carmont) when the post was reached, the sis furlongs having taken lmin. 17iseo.
. Aratiatia and the two-year-old Goldstream commenced together at tho sisfurlong post, and hurried home over the last half-mile, which occupied olisec. Goldstreaui finished in front, but his companion had the outside running, and covered more ground.
Mowbray and' Salzburg' were companions in a working gallop over six turlongs. Salzburg has rounded up beautifully, and is carrying much more condition than.formerly. Mowbray exhibited signs of respiratory trouble. Hβ made a noise which could he heard all ovpr tho course. • . .
Downhain and Ringforra covered five furlongs together in lmin. 3sec. The former, who had tho outside running, ehapod in a most attractive, manner. ViHyettus. must'-bo one of ; tho- laziest workers in , ' training. Yesterday morning, the chestnut was galloped over six furlongs on the grass at Trentham, without a companion, and declined to go milch better than three-quarter pace. Haskayne, from the Bamo stable, did a useful , - gallop over the same distance.
Parley, who has done practically ho racing during the period of hard tracks, is at Trentham with other horses from the Porirua : stable, and is to be'pre-' pared for. winter events. Yesterday morning ho accomplished useful work on the sand track.
Several of the southern horses have now put in an. appearance at headquarters. _.They include tho Great Easter Handicap winner, Chudic, in charge of B. Griffen ; Silver Shield, in charge of t. Scobie; and. Emperndor, Valhalla, Chorubmi, and Historiette, in charso of E. J. Mason. .
H. Cutts is due from the south on Tuesday with Bold Stroke, and probably It. Longley will arrive tho Bamo morning with Bee.
Ermcngarde arrived at Trentham from 'Awapuni on Saturday, and yesterday mornjng tho Charlemagne II fllly was on tho tracks with the other members of ths Highden team.
After galloping at Trentham on Saturday, the Great Nortnern Oaks winner, Merry Roe, was being exercised in tho centre of the course, when she broko into a gallop. It was some little time before her small pilot got her under control again, but m tho meantime tlie daughter of Soult managed to steer clear of any trouble.
Owners are reminded that acceptances for the first day's at tho Manawatu Racing Club's Autumn Meeting close to-morrow night with tho club's secretary, Mr. J. M. Johnston, Palmerstou North. ■ •

A:.' Oliver, wlo will, as usual, ride the Highden horses at the Trentliam Meeting this week, arrived from Palmerston North yesterday morning, and went straight on to Trentham.
As Haskayno's weight in the Thompson Handicap is only 7st. 71b. the Karamu horseman, \V. Ryan, will be unablo to rido tho Birkenhead gelding, and will thus be free to take another mount in the race named.
The steeplechaser, Torbelle, who 'accompanied the Porirua horses to Trentham, is boing used as a hack by his trainer, J. H. Prosser.
. ' It is generally anticipated that Merrj :Roe will start in the St. Leger' Stakes on Thursday, and that Bleriot will be Mr. F. Hall's representative in the Thompson Handicap.
During tho past couple of days, trainers have expressed the opinion that tho going on tho racing track at Trentham would bo well nigh porfect by Thursday if no rain occurred between now and tlion. At tho time of writing, however, tho indications aro that rain will fall.
Among tho yearlings to be offered at the Karamu sale at Hastings next month is a full sister to tho good handicap performer, Birkline. Thero is also a half-sister to the dam of Rencontre, winner of tho Great Northern Foal Stakes, C.J.U. Champagno Stakes, otc.
. Tho two-year-olds, Intelligible (Hy-mottus-Intelligent)' and Kalminohe (Hymottns—Dryad), arrived from Hastings on Saturday night to join S. Waddoll's team at Trcntham Both wore on tho tracks yesterday morning doing trotling oxorciso on tho sand. In tho past Intelligible has not been free from su'spioion of unsoundness, and she lias not racod since the third day of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting. On that occasion the public mado hor second favourite in tlio Hopeful Stakes, but she drew a bad position at r!i.-» harrier, and failed to gam n place. Should she go on tho right way during tlio coming v.eok, she will probably bo a starter in tlio Mnnawatu Sires' Produce. Stakes at Awapuni on April 29.
