AND THE IIAYO-RAI/fif. A meeting, under the auspices >f the Social Democratic party, was heid at Green Street, Newtown, on Saturday evening, under tho chairmanship of Mr. T. Reynolds, of the Seamen's Union. In his opening, remarks, Mr. Reynolds laid special stress upon tb© question of a municipal milk supply, Mr. Vcnnell, of the Bootmakers' Union, addressed th® Meeting, and pointed out how the Social Denioeratie party would not be content until they had obtained a majority of the- fijeni' hers of tbe council. The otection Of Mayor would not effect much in itself as far as the adoption of Vim platform of the Social Democratic party was co«' ceriicd, but would act as a harbinger of tho ' coining Social Beroocratic party's successes, both locally and nationally. Mr. G. G. Farlanct; secretary of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union, spoke principally with regard to the respoctivo attitudes or tlis three candidates, Messrs. Luke, M'Laron, and Holland during tho rccoiit strike. Mr. Luko had sworn in "spedals," and sided with tho employers openly. Mr, M'Larcn, he said, had been afraid to declare himself on the matter, The employers wantofl to know where lie stood, and so did the workers. Mr, Holland had uncompromisingly stood by Hie workers in tlioir fight. Messrs. J. Glover and E. J. B. Allen also addressed tho meeting, dealing with various matters from tho S.D.P. viewpoint.
