RESTORING SILK.
How to restore to silk, when.■washed, the soft firmness of the new fabric is problem in-which every wonian is interested. This is the method advocated by a clover French woman, who is said' to be an expert in delicate laundry ■work. Preparo some gum water by dissolving an ounce of the best gum arabic in half a pint of boiling water. Bottle this for use. When about, to use it, add one tablespoonful of the gum water to half a pint.of lukewarm water. Stir well, add a teaspoon fill of methylated spirit, and if the Bilk is white, a drop or two of strong blue, water. Rinse the silk, after washing, very thoroughly in two or three clean waters,' and finally in this gum arabic. This method will pive the silk a delightful crispness and closs. Never dry white silk in the open air. Roll it, when wet, in a clean towel, leave it for a couple of hours, and, when half dry, iron it on the wrong Bide.
