{From Our flcecial Correspondent.) The work of culverting Moran's creek is now practically completed,, and residents in that- locality may have jio further foar of unpleasant conditions. The widening of Cuba Street to the full extent of its Idngth was included in the work. Next Wednesday public meetings are to be held in the afternoon and evening in the Mayor's room, Petono, in connection with the proposed memorial to commemorate tho landing of the pioneer settlers on the Petone beach in 1840. The movement is in connection with the Early Settlers' Association. A'very good record for the year has been established in the collection of tho borough rates of Petoue. Of the sum of £10,217 which was collectable for thVyear, there wa-3 only £153 outstanding on March 31.
