FIFTH CONFERENCE ENDS.
. (By Ttleerftph.—Prosi Association.) Duriedln, April 17. The fifth Dominion Conference of the Church of England Men's Society concluded to-day. Mr: H. M. Bannehr moved:\ "That each diocesan council elect one voting delegate to tho provincial conference." —Carried.
On the motion of the Rov. C. R. Allen, it was rcsohod: "That, in deference to tho homo executive, renewal services be dropped, but that renewal forms bo signed at tho annual meeting of the branch." This involved rescinding a resolution of the Christchurch branch.
Archdeacon Richards moved: "That this conference reaffirm the appointment of mission councijs." —Carried. Under this'scheme each bishop will appoint someono to confer with him on mission , work.
The Rev. C. G. Mutter moved: "That it be a' respectful recommendation from this conference to the bishops of the province that they arrange for special services of intercession in times of industrial tumult." —Carried:
Moved by the Kev. W.. H. Roberts, and seconded by Mr. J. C. Adams, and carried with hearty cheers: "That tho conference place on record its appreciation of the able and efficient manner in which the most Rev/ tho Primate, 'president of tho society, has-'presided over its deliberations; thank him for his words of wise counsel, and furtfier respectfully tender congratulations to his lordship on tho approaching anniversary of his consecration to the office and work of a bishop in the Church' of God, which high and responsible offico he has discharged with dignity and devotion during a romarkable episcopate extending over forty-threo years." On the motion - of. the Rev. J. R. Howland, seconded by Mr. W.. Dunkley, it was resolved; "That this conference express its satisfaction at the appointment of tho Rev. J. E. Watts-Ditch-field as Bishop of Chelmsford, and assure, him of.their earnest prayer that God's, grace may support him in his new .and responsible work."
A motion was proposed by Mr. W. Dunkley to the effect "that the conference urge all C.E.M.S. men to do their utmost to work for aM support the movement for. boys' qrphanagos in their respective dioceses." Tho motion.led to debate, but was carried. The conference resojved to recommend tho executive to put tho organising secretary's fund on a business footing. It was' reported that £122 12s. 7d. was in hrtnd. Votes of thanks wore accorded to Mr. J. C. Adams for editing and managing the Men's Magazine, and to the Rev. .T. D. Russell for his services as renewal secretary.
