LADY SCOTT AT POLAR PICTURES',
Lady Scott on a Saturday night of last month, for the first time, saw Mr. Ponting's pictures of her late husband s expedition to the Antarctic. Slip had long wished to see them, but had not hithorto felt equal to facing the trying ordeal. On this Saturday sho went to the Philharmonic Hall, Great Portland Street, and as a member'of the general public saw the exhibition of Mr. Herbert Ponting's remarkable pictures. Accompanying her ; were Mr. M Kenna (Home Secretary) and Mrs. M'Xenna, and Mr. Harold Baker. .' The news that Lady Scott was present gradually spread through the ball and created a. marked ■impression. Tho final scenes of the tragic expedition were received with an intense hush. Tho portraits-of the "five heroes, , which are shown at the end or the series, are usually received with rounds of cheering. On; Saturday night : there was a sympathetic silence. At the close of the exhibition Lady. .■ Scott hurried from the hall.
