IS CANCER INFECTIOUS?
ACUTE DIVISION OF OPINION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, April 14. An acute division of opinion exists as to whether houses transmit cancer to tho occupants. A national inquiry is urged in order to solvo tho problem. The possibility of a person acquiring cancer through' living in a house previously occupied by a cancer sufferer is ono ol the gravest of present-day medical riddles (stated a recent cablo message). Tho recurrence of tho disease in the samo blocks of buildings has hitherto been put down to coincidence, but a more thorough investigation has been urged. A cancerous mouse was placed in an uncleaned. cage and other mico introduced. They contracted the disease, and even after the cage was cleansed once the taint reiiiaiuyd, frequent _ disinfections ■being' required to remove it.
