LAWN TENNIS.

HARD COURT CHAMPIONSHIPS SECOND DAY'S PLAY. Another fine day on. Saturday enabled good progress to be made with the Wellington i'ro-vincial Lutvii Tenuis Association's hard court championship and handicap tournament. No other event lias been carried to the final stage, but several have reached the semi-finals, and the remaining games will bo proceeded with on the Brougham Hill courts at 9 o'clock this morning. On Saturday both tho Brougham Hill courts and the Wellington Club courts were in commission. On tho latter courts tho ladies' matches were played, and some very interostipg contests were witnessed, In the doubles, Mrs. W. E. Miss Davis also showed capital form in the Singles Championship, and in the semifinal defeated Miss Stevens fHutt)j who had this season defeated Miss Travers.
