SATURDAY'S PLAY. - Thirty-two rinks entered , for , the Citizens' Carnival Eink Tournament, which commenced, on the city .greens in bright, breezy weather on Saturday morning. It is rather late in the season for bowls,'as there ie now little * recoyerv in the ground. Though no rain had fallen sinco {Thursday night, the green's were all rather sodden. As a result the bowls needed a deal of push, and there was not much opportunity for fine play. It was a day for tho strong running-shot man, who could lift his opponents' bowls out of tho'way, rather than,, draw to beat them. Still the weather held out; bravely, and, though it became rather cold during tho progress of the third round, somo interesting play eventuated.- Three rounds (cightoen-head games) were played ■on Saturday. ■ , .It is satisfactory to learn that the
tournament, given in aid of the Citizens' ■ ( Carnival, .will mean a donation of £16 to tho.fund. The results of Saturday's play are be follow:— '- i SECTION A. On Thorndon Green.
