ORDER OF THE STAR IN THE EAST
The lecture entitled' "Jesiis and the Christ' given by Miss C. W.. Christie m the Theosophical Hall, Bultenco btreet, on Wednesday, was of umisnal interest, dealing as it did with tho deepest'truths of ail the great, religions of the world. The lecturer referred t<s the : stones of the joyous sacrifice of the. Logos or Word, who in tho beeinning I ot manifestation outbrcaliked oiir universe, filling it with His own boundless I life, and that.of the Sun God, born in i tho darkest time of the yenr, from the sing Virgo, or the Virgin of the Cosmic Zodiac, with all the powers of darkness against Him, but growing in strength and beauty until at His zeaith Ho ripens the corn and grapo for His earth children, and for three days and three nights remains thus, theil gradually withdraws until Ho is again hoia, weak as a babe, at the next winter solstice. Next came the story of the Esselio Initiate, entering his scheol at tho a<so of 18 years, and at 30 years initiated, tied for three days and tkr.ee nights' with soft cords upon a wooden cross, tested on the plains of Paradise ami Hades, teaching tho "spirits in prison," facing its terrors and conquering them, then returning triumphant with tie words "It 'is finished?' The birth of the little Jewish babe Jesus, who wius to give His! body a willing sacrifice'to I one still greater—the Lord Cfc-ist—was described. This babe was of a, conquered i Tace, but of the highest in it, bom of; the royal line of David, and at the ages ! of 12, 18, 30 and 33 years passed the usual stages that mark the world-Sat* '■ iour. At 30 the baptism and descent; of the Dove symbol of the Atatara, connecting tho body of Jesus and the spirit ■ which, was Christ, and all His subtle bodies with tho second person ot the Trinity or Cosmic Christ, and making of that wondrous figure standing in Jor-; dan, perfect man, and perfect God—the physical body of Jesus—the Spirit Christ, and both interpenetrated by tho Divine Ayatara, symbolised by a white bird in all great religions. Tho Lord Jesus having thus given His body, remained within call, teaching those who had made the power to see Him in his subtle body and returning to the physical only when recalled by the Glti'ist AVho sometimes left it.for work 0* higher planes. Tho lecturer then spoke of the Mystic Christ within the heart of every 6on of God, and which, when, consciously born in it takes th© wau through tho "Strait gate" into the Kingdom of Heaven as a littlo child, with the Star in tho East shining above him. The triune man now. wise in Christ worships as the threo wise men. bringing all tho wealth of esperienco of many lives to the feet of the Christ. The devotional attributes also worship as the humble shepherds, and the passions changed from wild beasts into humble servants—gentle kiao arein attendance wliilo of Father-Spirit and Mary Matter the Christ child is given to the Vorld. All these stories are true, said the lecturer, though only one is ■ historical, and all are woven into the beautiful lifo of the Lord Jesus Christ given in our Bible.
