Tho district heacVnarters of tho Wellington military u.ourict will bo moved ■from Palmerston North to tho divisional camp, Takapau, on Tuesday, April 21, and will remain there until Monday, May 11. An application, to add parties to tho Wellington Shipwrights' dispute was dealt with by tho Conciliation CommiS' sioner (Mr. P. Holly) on Thursday morning. Tho employers wero represented by Messrs. Stonebanks and Birkcll, while tho imion'3 representative was Mr. G. Blathorwick (secretary). Tho last-named asked that the Union Steam Ship Company, tho Wellington Harbour Board,' and Messrs. E. R. 'Bailey and J. Bringins: should bo made parties to tho dispute. The Commissioner decided to exempt tho Union Steam Ship Company from tho provisions of tho award, provided that it furnishes tho Court with a declaration that it is not engagod in tho industry. Exemption irns granted to tho Wellington Harbour Board on tho samp lines as wore laid down by tho Arbitration Court in the carpenters', dispute. Tho union's _ application, in regard to Messrs. Bailey and Bringins was granted. As Mr. Blatherwick objected to tho ruling of tho Commissioner in regard to tho Union Stoam Ship Company and the Harbour Board, the matter will probably bo referred to the Court of Arbitration. The Hon. Jas. Allon (Minister of Defonce) told a reporter yesterday that satisfactory arrangements (local arrangements as far as possible) were boing made to fill tho vacancies on the , No. 2 Staff created by the departure of Colonel Heard and other Imperial officers. A general re-arrangement of tho staff is in progress. In some cases officers have been, imported to fill places previously filled by English officers, but in others Now Zealanders have stepped | into the vacancies - after being trained at Home. Another.feature of tho position is that some of tho Imperial officers have agreed to an extension of their term of engagement by a year. It is hoped that when this additional period has expired New Zealand? officers now undergoing training at Home will bo ready to take up these positions.
