The new arrangeinieut will, bo forwarded on to the Arbitration pourt.for-, registration ae a bindtuig avranlj and will dato from April 1, 1,1913, to Juno 30, 1916. r Mr. Hally said that, in a general t jonse, the tramway men would benefit i considerably from a monetary point of } view, whilst, on the other hand, the ii Corporation would have the advantage i that some ,o£ tho time which had pref'yiously been.wasted by tho men would [now be occupied in running, the. trams. ! Under the old award the.men were alj; lowed half an hour for signing on and i signing off, arid a , good deal of time was 'absolutely wasted at'the commencement S; a nd end of a jouraoy, during which the hear was standing idle and not earning I money. Under tho new arrangement, which 'will come into operation shortly, all this i -time —or practically the whole of -it, nil be occupied by the trams in earning > 'evouue.- As-an illustration of the concessions, or- increased wages, given to .' ihe men; Mr. Hally said that, whereas inder the old award a motdrmau with ijn'y seven years' service was entitled / to 1. Is. 2id. per hour, a.motorman with i -three years' "Bervice would in future re- ; ceive Iβ. 2id; per hour, while the man p who had served seven years as a senior ? motorman would receive Is. 3d. per i hour. ' • ' • ■ P." The wages conceded conductors wero i as follow, tho old rates being given in (■ parentheses -.—First year men, Is, per I Jiour (lljd.); second year mon, Is. Otd. tv:(ls.); third year men, Is. 03d. (Is.); • over three years, Is.-Id. (ls.'OJd.). - Mr.' Hally added that. a number. of k other conditions of benefit to both par- ! ties had been agreed upon.
