Coif Opening. The Johtisonville Golf Club's links were opened for tho season on Saturday afternoon, a largo number of golfers and their friends taking part in tho ceremony. Tho grounds were in excellent order, and. tho sun shone out brightly after tho midday shower. After tho president (Mr, \¥. Wallis) had declared the links open for play, a number of competitions were commenced, and somo interesting contests resulted. . The opening games were com* petitions in driving, approaching, asd putting, and tho winners were Driving competition: Ladies, Mrs. Burton, with a drivo of 175 yds.; driving competition, men, Mr. W. Wallis, 210 yds.; approaching competition, ladies, Miss Prico,; approaching, men, Mr. fi. Kent; putting competition, ladies Miss Batham; men, Mr. A. Adams. Tho trophies were presented by Mrs. Wallis (tho wifo of the president); Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. Wallace, and greatly appreciated by all present. Tho tablo was set in the.golf house, being tastefully decorated with hhto hydrangeas and scarlet cactus dahlias. A number of small tables were arranged under the trees.
